China Covid Surge – Covid-19 is once again scaring the whole world. Back in the year 2019, when COVID-19 first started in China, it was one of the biggest tragedies for the country as millions of Chinese lost their lives.

A spokesperson of the World Health Organization recently confirmed during a press brief that they had invited Chinese scientists to participate in a meeting of the technical advisory group on COVID-19.

The cases of COVID-19 are rising at traffic speed in China, and the situation is getting worse each day. You might have remembered that a few days ago, Bloomberg reported that China might have recorded around 37,000,000 positive cases of COVID-19 in a single day.
That report by Bloomberg was one of the most shocking reports on any country since the start of COVID-19.

The European Center for Disease Control and Prevention recently published their report mentioning that they are also watching all the variants of the virus impacting the Chinese.
One of the biggest problems with the Chinese is that they recently dropped their zero COVID policy which was known to be one of the most effective policies in order to contain the virus.
Despite all the backlash, we have to appreciate the Chinese that they were able to contain the spread of the virus as much as possible. For the last 3 years, the Chinese did not record many cases of COVID-19 because they closed their borders and tried to limit the movement of citizens.

The United States has already recorded positive cases of COVID-19 with 2 of these variants, But we have not recorded positive cases of COVID-19 with the BA.5.2, which is the dominating variant in China.
Are These New COVID Variants Deadly?
The Chinese are among the most notorious governments around the world when it comes to reporting anything regarding their country. Even when the whole world was under the worst waves of COVID-19, the Chinese were chilling as if nothing had happened in their country.
The cases of Covid 19 are once again rising in China, and the Chinese government is not posting the right numbers of the virus.
We may never receive the correct reports on the effect of the new variants of COVID-19 in China, but we can compare them with our own data.
As the United States has already recorded positive cases with 2 of the most dominating variants in China, We can successfully conclude that those variants are not imposing a great risk of death.
These variants are fast and highly contagious, but they are not imposing deadly risks. Most people are getting better without even any medical assistance in just 5 to 10 days, depending on their immunity and other medical conditions.
The major thing we have to focus on is their most dominating variant. BA 5.2 is the dominating variant of COVID-19 in China, and it has already started spreading in other countries, including Indonesia and Malaysia.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the United States has not made any comments when it comes to the effectiveness of Bivalent booster shots against these variants.
Several health experts in the country might have been raising their concerns about the effectiveness of the updated booster shot, but the CC or the federal government have not made any conclusive comments on that.
Till now, we believe that the updated booster shot is going to work against these variants of COVID-19 as we cannot trust the Chinese vaccine.
People in China have also not shown any interest in COVID vaccine. We even received reports where the Chinese were offering more than $60 for 2 old Chinese to get vaccinated with booster shots.
The Situation of COVID Vaccine in China
Despite having one of the strictest COVID policies in the world, Chinese COVID vaccine numbers are not looking good.
Back in April 2022, only 58% of Chinese received the first dose of the COVID vaccine, and around 50% received the second dose. While the number of booster shots number was the worst, only 19% of Chinese received that.
Chinese are not showing their interest in copied vaccines as western copied vaccines have not reached mainland China and people do not want to get themselves vaccinated with local vaccines.
Even if you take a look at the effectiveness of their vaccine, you won’t find good numbers as they are just experimenting with different modes of the vaccine rather than effectiveness and safety.
After April 2022, the Chinese started vaccinating their people, and they somehow reached 76% when it came to the first dose and 65% when it came to the second dose of the COVID vaccine.
Booster shot numbers are still the worst, as only 40% of Chinese have received the booster shot. If you compare the number of COVID vaccines with the United States, you will see that we are in a huge lead.
You might get surprised to know that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have already vaccinated more than 90% of Americans with the bivalent booster dose, let alone the primary series.
95% of Americans above the age of 65 have already received the updated booster shot, which is going to provide huge protection against currently dominating sub-variants of the virus.
Why are COVID Cases Rising in China?
Before we wrap up our session, let’s take a look at the major causes of the recent China COVID surge.
One of the biggest reasons for the latest China COVID surge is their vaccine. Health experts around the world have already mentioned multiple times that they do not trust the Chinese COVID vaccine, and people who have already been vaccinated in mainland China should get themselves vaccinated once again with western vaccines.
At the same time, the number of covid vaccines in China is not looking good. Only 40% of Chinese have been vaccinated with booster shorts which are causing huge chaos in the country.
It Is highly unlikely that the United States or other Western countries, where we have already vaccinated more than 90% of the population with the updated booster shots, will ever experience that level of Covid outbreak.
Is It safe to travel in China?
The Chinese government has lifted its zero COVID policy. It means that everyone who wants to travel to China can easily travel with just one COVID test and certificate of COVID vaccine. It is premature to make any comments on the safety of travel to China. We will have to wait for official clearance from the CDC.
