From the 12th of June 2022, no one will have to submit a COVID-19 negative test report to enter the United States. The Biden administration put the restriction back in January 2021, which has been drawing criticism from the travel and airline industries throughout the world.

As you are already aware, summer is one of the busiest and favorite seasons of travelers. The latest announcement is going to push the travel industry to new heights in the United States.

The Centers for Disease Control and prevention is going to re-evaluate its decision after 90 days. The help agency will check the latest rate of positivity in travelers from other countries. 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention mentioned in its press release that they are not going to hesitate to reinstate a pre-departure testing requirement in case they believe the positive cases of COVID-19 are rising once again in the country.

The Previous Situation of Air Traveler COVID Testing

Since January 2021, the Centers for Disease control and clear variation have made it mandatory to show proof of a COVID negative test report to enter the United States via air.

It was mandatory for everyone above the age of 2, and if you do not have any negative test report, you can also show documentation of recovery from COVID within the last 90 days before boarding a flight from a foreign country to the United States.

Fast forward to December 2021, when the pomegranate variant of COVID-19 was spreading at rapid speed in the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and prevention amended its order to require a COVID negative test report from no more than three days older to no more than one day old before departure.
